Anonymous hackers claim to have the data of 800 Million Cards, True?

A group calling itself ‘Anonymous Ukraine’ has claimed that it has hacked information related to more than 800 million US credit and debit cards including of those who are at highest seats in the US government and other politicians. A claim that has been doubted by experts both on its merit and enormity. The group’s main reason to do so seems to be to damage relations between US and Ukraine and is believed to be a Russian group. A message from the group stated the following on 24th of March:

“After the USA showed its true face when she unilaterally decides which of the peoples to live independently and who under the yoke of the Federal Reserve, we decided to show the world who is behind the future collapse of the American banking system. We own all the financial information of the Fed. And even more than you think.”

There are two companies, Risk Based Security and Battelle, which are investigating the breach and both say that they have not found any credible proof that the said 800 million accounts have bean breached. The data that hackers have provided as proof is incomplete, outdated and/or fraudulent.
The hacking group announced that it had released details of more than 25 million credit or debit cards. Battelle counted the right amount to be about 10.2 million and only 1% of it is complete. Rest of the accounts have either important details missing, such as full name or expiry date or validation codes, or the information is totally out dated as the expiration dates are from 2012-2014 rather than 2015-2016. The earlier dates of expiration suggests that the information was acquired from an older data dump. For all those credit or debit cards having all the correct and complete information, are believed to be gathered through fake banking websites using phishing, according to Ernest Hampson, technical director for Battelle’s cyber intelligence and counterintelligence group. He added about the threat and sophistication:

“These criminal organizations are acting more like armies every day. They have their own Intel, they’re gathering information about your employees, finding out who your friends are, and they can target attacks directly against you that make it unlikely that you would not click on that email.”
Interestingly, it seems that some of the users started noticing something fishy about these phishing sites and started entering messages like “Bite Me”, “your momma” or “get lost”.

While downloading the data from site, Battelle’s investigators also received a malware which appeared to have been hosted in Ukraine on a server owned by a Ukrainian. The investigators are closely monitoring the activities of Anonymous Ukraine. Hampson said:

“It’s really important to keep an eye on your enemy, find out what they’re interested in, what their motivation is, what their capabilities are.”

Anonymous Philippines defaced Govt. websites for protest against Anti-CyberCrime Law

In the year 1987 when the late former President Corazon Aquino passed the bill
that gave the Filipino people its right to freedom of speech and expression
but in the year 2012 politicians and lawmakers came up of the bill
that kills the right of the people to freely express their opinion and
freedom of speech through the internet.

The 1987 Constitution, Article III, Bill of Rights, Section 4 states,

"No law shall be passed abridging the freedom of speech, of expression, or of the press,
or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances."

We, the citizens of the internet, fight again for this right and for this freedom.
We fight not only for ourselves but also for others who stand with us against the Cyber Crime Law —
bloggers, gamers or ordinary internet users.

This is our way to express and oppose the bill that may destroy the future of the internet in the Philippines.
We believe that together we shall achieve the goal and the purpose of this cause.
We shall stand and fight for the Filipino Netizens' right to freedom of speech and expression.

Protect our Right to Freedom of Expression!

LinkedIn files a lawsuit to unmask the anonymous hackers

LinkedIn has filled one lawsuit in order to identify the unidentified hackers who created several thousand fake accounts with the aim of scraping the profile data. As per the court documents, those defendants operated automated bots on the virtual computers which were rented from Amazon in order to harvest the details on social networking site for the professionals.
The lawyers for LinkedIn claimed that it cost $5000 to deal with those hackers-they filed one complaint with the Northern District of California Court after discovering the fake accounts.
In the court submission, LinkedIn said that Since May 2013, some unknown entities or persons employing several automated software programs or bots have registered several thousand fake LinkedIn member accounts and therefore they have copied or extracted data from the profile pages of numerous members.
This practice is popularly known as data scraping and it is explicitly barred by the user agreement of LinkedIn that prohibits the access to LinkedIn through spidering, scraping, crawling or by using any other data or technology to access the data without any express written consent of the LinkedIn members or LinkedIn.
Although, till now the identity of the hackers is unknown, as the hackers had used the Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud it, but they are expecting that they would be able to identify those Doe Defendants by serving the third-party discovery on AWS.
While this thing was not clear what these hackers would do with these data, LinkedIn mentioned that irreparable and ongoing harm had caused. As per the complaint of LinkedIn, having several thousands of false profiles decreases the integrity and the accuracy of information on this website, causing possibly the legitimate users to become misled or confused.
LinkedIn said that the mission of this site is to connect the professionals of this world to make them more successful and productive. Therefore this company hosted the CVs of around 259 million members and a number of them are high-level executives.
Recruiters of the 90 of the Fortune 100 companies utilize the website to look for the prospective candidates.
Mike Small-the security analyst at Kuppinger Cole mentioned that the cloud services are quite cheap to build up, very powerful and quite easy to use. They mainly need one credit card to get the access. These features are quite attractive to the cyber criminals and hackers like as to the legitimate users.
The cloud services mainly have some extensive control in the place in order to prevent the use for the illegal or the illegitimate purposes and the cloud service that deals normally, forbid this particularly. The cyber criminals would require searching the way to cloak the identity while utilizing the public cloud service in this way.
This incident demonstrates all the difficulties faced in the world where both law and the law enforcement is organized geographically but the criminal activities that use the Internet cut across the boundaries.
LinkedIn spokesman, Mr. Richard George uttered that they are a members-first organization and they feel that they have the responsibility to protect that control that their members have more than the information that they use on LinkedIn.

Anonymous Philippines Defaced Several Government Websites for Protest

Greetings citizens of the Philippines. We are Anonymous.

We apologize for this inconvenience, but this is the only easiest way we could convey our message to you,
our dear brothers and sisters who are tired of this cruelty and this false democracy, tired of this government
and the politicians who only think about themselves.

The government, in many ways, has failed its Filipino citizens.
We have been deprived of things which they have promised to give; what our late heroes have promised us to give.
Let us remind the government that fairness, justice and freedom are more than words. They are perspectives.

A march is happening, a revolution. A way to speak, a way to be heard.
On the fifth day of November, 2013, we will try to be a part of the history.

But of course there are those who do not want us to speak, and those who have doubts.
You can sleep, sit, go on with your everyday routine just like a herd of sheep and watch as the government laugh at you.
But if you see what we see, if you feel as we feel, and if you would seek as we seek... then we ask you to stand beside us,
this fifth of November outside the gates of Supreme Court and let us march our way to freedom - a freedom from the shackles
of the Government.

You have been called; and by watching, you have been chosen.

To the "incorrupt" officials of the government, we are challenging you!
Join us!

The Corrupt - Fear us.
The Honest - Support us.
The Heroic - Join us.

We are Anonymous.
We are ONE.
The government, you are NONE.

We are legion.
On the 5th of November, Government - Hear and understand us, or EXPECT US!

October-12: Anonymous’ DDoS Missiles ready to launch against Monsanto

# Op Monsanto October 12, 2013 ========================== To the free-thinking citizens of the world: Anonymous Bleachers with farmers and organizations food to denounce the practices of Monsanto We applaud the bravery of the organizations and citizens who are standing up to Monsanto, and we are united with you against this oppressive corporate abuse. Monsanto is contaminating the world with chemicals and genetically modified food crops for profit while claiming to feed the hungry and protect the environment. Anonymous is everyone, Anyone who can not stand injustice and decides to do something about it, we are all over the Earth and here to stay. To Monsanto, we demand you stop the following: - The contamination of the global food chain with GMO. - Intimidating small farmers with bullying and lawsuits. - Widespread use of destructive pesticides and herbicides across the globe. - Using "Terminator Technology", which makes sterile plants. - The attempt to appropriate the negotiations on the UN climate change for their own fiscal benefit. - Reducing farmland to desert through monoculture and the use of synthetic fertilizers. Inspiring suicides of hundreds of thousands of Indian farmers. Causing birth defects by continuing to produce the pesticide "Round-up" - Attempting to bribe foriegn officials - Infiltration of the anti - GM * there are links at the bottom corresponding with each of the above. Monsanto, these crimes will not go unpunished. Anonymous will not spare you nor anyone in support of your oppressive illegal business practices. AGRA, a great example: In 2006, AGRA, Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa, was established with funding from Bill Gates and the Rockefeller Foundation. Among the other members founders, AGRA, we find: Monsanto, Novartis, Sanofi - Aventis, GlaxoSmithKline, Procter and Gamble, Merck, Mosaic, Pfizer, Sumitomo Chemical and Yara.

The fact that these companies are pharmaceutical manufacturers or chemical or a coincidence. The people of the world you see, Monsanto. Anonymous sees you. seeds Opportunism, Climate change offers businesses a perfect excuse to attack the poorest countries in chopped to "rescue" the farmers and people with their GMO crops and chemical pesticides. These corporations eradicate the traditional ways of the country's agriculture for the sake of huge profits. The introduction of GMOs drastically affects the income of local farmers, as the price of chemicals required for GMOs and seeds from Monsanto cripples scarce profit margins of farmers. Even there are many cases of Monsanto suing small farmers after pollen from GM crops accidentally cross with the farmer's crops. Because Monsanto has a patent on theri brand of seed, they claim the farmer is in violation of patent laws. these practices will not be tolerated disgusting and inhumane. Anonymous urges all concerned citizens to stand up for these farmers, fight for the future of your own food. Protest, organize, spread info to your friends! SAY NO TO TOXIC CHEMICALS IN YOUR FOOD! SAY NO TO GMO! SAY NO TO MONSANTO! We are Anonymous We are Legion We do not forgive We do not forget Expect us

FBI arrests a suspicious Anonymous Hacker

McAllen- After a year of Investigation FBI arrested a man—said to be a member of Anonymous hackers, he is accused of trying to hack the Hidalgo country website.
Fidel Salinas Jr. was charged with accessing a protected computer without authorisation and recklessly causing damage and faces a prison sentence of one to five years.
Hidalgo Country website was hacked on Jan-5-2012, there were 14,000 illegal attempts were found to log on its server, attack compromised sensitive human resources and emergency alert data, caused slowness and latency for users, and keeping network administrators from accessing it for about half a day. After that FBI’s Cyber crimes agents were called to investigate the hack.
Access to the website was the result of a brute force SQL injection attack that official said caused more than $10,000 in damages.
That 14,000 attempts were traced by the FBI agents—they got the IP Address which was used in the attack and they tracked it to a house off Nolana Loop in Donna, according to the affidavit. He intended to alert the site’s network administrators.
He also claimed to have posted a Facebook comment aimed at Treviño that ended, in part, with the quote: “We do not forgive, we do not forget” (A Tagline which is commonly used by Anonymous hackers)
But the FBI recovered from Salinas’ computer hacking tools and an internet relay chat containing logs pertaining to the revived AntiSec movement, now affiliated with the Anonymous collective.

Anonymous announced  to Syrian People that “We are with you in this war“.
The Press Release by Anonymous reads:

Anonymous has been actively involved and contributed towards the uprisings in Egypt, Lebanon and Tunisia. For far too long, we have witnessed the barbaric, unjust and brutal treatment of the Syrian people. Time and time again we have observed these war crimes. From the chemical weapons and scud missile attacks employed by Bashar al-Assad, to the growing number of questionable and violent actions taken by some of the opposing groups, it is clear that whoever the citizens may rally behind, their safety and security is ultimately transient and not guaranteed . The accumulation of war crimes has irritated our nest and the time has now come for us to take action.
Dictator Assad and elements within the Syrian Opposition, you now have the undivided attention of Anonymous. You are failing your country, you are failing your people, your country faces following the examples of your Egyptian, Lebanese and Tunisian counterparts. Our request is a simple one; cease fire immediately and stop the violence towards the innocent or you will feel our wrath.
To the people of Syria, know that Anonymous stands with you in this war against terror.
We vow to do everything we can to hinder war crimes played against you. We will raise awareness in every manner we can. We will assist you in putting an end to this carnage. We have put together the Anonymous Syria Care Package (Attached Documents) which contains instructions in Arabic and English that will aid you in areas of conflict. We encourage you to download this information, keep it on your person and share it with your fellow Syrians to the best of your ability.
We are with you in this war. No matter how alone and abandoned you feel, no matter how many atrocities you face – know that there are many of us working around the clock, concerned and attempting everything we can to catalyse change. We are oceans far from you, but closer than the jugular vein. We, together, can conquer adversity.
We are Anonymous.
We are Legion.
We do not Forgive.
We do not Forget.

Twitter spy on you via TwitterBot, shadows every click you make

After the Leaks of Edward Snowden regards the spying of US Govt. on people of US, now something like this revealed about twitter by a privacy expert Alexander Hanff from Poland, he says that twitter is chasing you on every link click of t.co and Direct Messages that you send others privately.
Alexander reports on his official blog that Twitter shadows every click you make?
Explanation of Alexander’s report:
Alexander was in fond of a project in which he will be able to see his site visitors without retaining any information which might be considered as private, identifying or could be used to track them; these statistics are important for attracting sponsors, he also wanted to know where his users are coming from without retaining their IP address – so for this stuff to get work he installed a module for Apache called GeoIP which allows him to see from which country a visitor is coming on his website from based on their IP address, without actually having to store their IP address.
Then, Alexander set up his own server on his local network which is not addressable from the outside world and therefore GeoIP doesn’t work correctly – so he uploaded his script to his production web server and set up a temporary web site in Apache to check that the correct data was being saved to the database. The website was new which Alexander set up and no incoming links from public over there, so he didn’t bother changing the default Apache log configuration, which means the log was capturing all the usual data including User Agent string, IP Address and much more
After this Alexander sent the following link via a DM in TweetDeck (He has multiple twitter accounts, he sent DM to his own twitter account)

http://mydomain.com/stats.php?ref=twitter

The purpose of the ref string at the end of the URL was to test that it was recorded in the database because he need to restore some log data relating to his sponsors. The output of his script looks like this:

The Results above created in this form:
RowID » TimeStamp » Requested Page » Country Code
The results above are the actual results from his database and his country code is PL so you can see from the result that row 11 and 13 were visits from his computer, however, rows 8, 9, 10 and 12 all have the country code US. Rows 8 – 10 were created immediately after he sent the DM to his Twitter account from TweetDeck.
Alexander also stated that he don’t have the actual twitter account, he sent the DM to set up in TweetDeck yet but he did have the account open in one of his browsers so he clicked on that URL in the DM (See row11 in the list above, it’s from Poland) but 4 Entries over their were from US since the URL was private and had never been made public. So he checked his Apache access logs and there he could see that for each of the US rows, one of Twitter’s servers using IP 199.16.156.126 identifying itself as Twitterbot/1.0 had sent a GET request to the URL (including the extra URL parameters “?ref=twitter”.
Are you still confused what’s the problem above, below are the points:
The URL we post via a DM is supposed to be private
They didn’t look for robots.txt (regarded as the polite thing for robots to do)
They went straight to the URL which could have contained private information that they were not supposed to see and they made a copy of that page (via a GET request).
Back in June this year, Alexander already filed a complaint with the European Commission over concerns that Twitter was able to track user clicks via their t.co URL shortener without explicit consent – which is a breach of EU privacy regulations; this is now proven to be true through the evidence above.
Alexander also asked twitter safety team about this issue and yet to recieve a response from them, we will update this article later if twitter reply him.
